As trees mature often branches will die within the crown. This process prevents any falling debris creating any issues with targets below. Deadwood removal is often undertaken on trees in high risk areas such as public places, over footpaths/roads or in gardens.

The climber moves around the whole tree removing any dead branches in a controlled manor. This method of work can be completed to different specifications. For example ‘major deadwood’ any piece of deadwood over 2” in diameter.

Often trees have to be removed entirely, and one way to do this is to fell them, there are many different methods and types of felling cut. It is important the person doing the work is competent and has the correct qualifications and insurance. This should be provided if requested by the customer.

Felling is often limited when carrying out domestic work as space can be limited and it can often be quite messy. It is essential that checks are made that the tree is not TPO’ed or in a conservation area as the are large fines if a tree is felled that is.
